Munnar sightseeing entry fees at a glance

This table covers the stops most visitors do in one or two days. Where sources differ, the note column says so, because gate prices change and the counter rate is final.

Entry only, Eravikulam plus Tea Museum plus Mattupetty is Rs 200 + Rs 75 + Rs 10 = Rs 285. With the other stops the total stays at about Rs 285 to Rs 305. Boating, not entry, pushes a day higher.

Eravikulam National Park entry fee and timings

Eravikulam is the most expensive entry in Munnar and the one to book first. The official park site lists Indian adults at Rs 200 and foreign nationals at Rs 500, camera Rs 50, video camera Rs 350, and reservation Rs 50. Entry time is 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Private vehicles are not allowed inside: visitors use park transport to Rajamalai. The park closes in February to March for the Nilgiri Tahr calving season, food and drinks are not allowed inside, and it is a plastic-free zone. Book online in peak season. Our Munnar 2 day itinerary and budget shows how to place it first in the morning.

Tea Museum entry fee, timings, and the Monday trap

The KDHP Tea Museum, also called the Tata Tea Museum, is the cheapest paid stop. A current 2026 list puts Indian adults at Rs 75, children 5 to 12 at Rs 35, under 5 free, foreign adults at Rs 100 and foreign children at Rs 50. Still camera Rs 20, optional tea tasting about Rs 100, documentary included.

Timings in that listing are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed on Mondays. If you are in Munnar Sunday to Tuesday, do the museum on Sunday or Tuesday and keep Monday for the other stops. Allow 1 to 2 hours inside.

Honest caveat: older guides list Tea Museum rates higher than Rs 75. Treat the counter price as final and keep a little extra cash.

Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and Kundala Lake: entry and boating

These three sit on the same road toward Top Station, so most drivers do them in one run. Mattupetty entry is listed at Rs 10 per person, with boating run by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Idukki. Published rates include about Rs 300 for 15 minutes for 5 people and about Rs 700 for a larger boat for 20 people for 30 minutes. Speed boat prices can be higher, so confirm boat type, duration, and total before boarding.

Boating optionPublished priceHow it is charged
Mattupetty, standard boat, 15 minAbout Rs 300Per boat, up to 5 people in the listing
Mattupetty, big boat, 30 minAbout Rs 700Per boat, up to 20 people in the listing
Kundala, pedal boatRs 100Per boat, for 3 persons in the listing
Kundala, row boatRs 150Per boat, for 4 persons in the listing
Kundala, shikara boatRs 200Per boat, for 2 persons in the listing

Echo Point has no entry fee in the listings checked: it is a lakeside viewpoint where sound echoes back. Kundala also has free entry. Kundala timings are generally listed as 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Mattupetty boating as about 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Fill a Kundala boat and the share can be Rs 33 to Rs 50 per person; a couple taking a shikara alone should budget the full Rs 200.

Top Station entry fee and what to expect

Top Station is about 32 km from Munnar town, at the far end of the Mattupetty road. Most listings treat it as a free viewpoint in daylight hours, roughly 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Some recent guides list about Rs 20. Sources do not agree, so plan for free and carry small notes.

The real cost at Top Station is time: it is the longest drive on this list, so do it as the end point of an early Mattupetty run, not a separate afternoon trip. See our Munnar destination page for the wider picture.

How to do the stops without paying for backtracking

  1. Do Eravikulam on its own morning. It sits in a different direction from the Top Station road. Arrive inside the 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM entry window and allow a half day in peak season.
  2. Chain Mattupetty, Echo Point, Kundala, and Top Station in that order. They are on one road out of town, so one taxi run covers all four without returning to town between stops.
  3. Place the Tea Museum on a non-Monday. It is close to town, so it fits at the start or end of either day, as long as it is not a Monday.
  4. Decide boating once. Pick one lake for boating and treat the other as a free viewpoint.
  5. Carry cash in small notes for counters and boat jetties.
